He has authored or co-authored over 300 peer reviewed articles, chapters and books on paediatric, haematological and oncological topics.

Professor Eden has played an important role in the development of paediatric oncology internationally.  He has been an elected member of the Scientific Committee of the leading international society of paediatric oncologists (SIOP) since 1992 and was President of SIOP from 2004 to 2007. He is also on the External Advisory Committee for the International Outreach Program of St Jude Children's Research Hospital, is a Board Member and paediatric advisor to AFROX and a Faculty Associate of the Brook’s World Poverty Institute, University of Manchester. He has developed a particular understanding and expertise of the problems associated with delivering effective treatment in resource poor countries.

“Individual and national poverty, other overwhelming health concerns and the lack of awareness of cancer and its potential curability are the major causes for lack of investment in childhood cancer services in resource-limited countries.  This is despite many childhood tumours being curable at affordable cost with the appropriate support and funding”.
