The Daily Star reports that World Child Cancer has purchased 200 sets of high quality personal protective equipment (PPE) and handed them over to the heads of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology departments of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (SMCH), Dhaka Children's Hospital and National Institute of Cancer Research Hospital on 25th April 2020.
Doctors and nurses engaged in treating cancer-affected children, are not out of risk as they are treating different patients in hospitals and might be possible carriers of the virus. We are providing PPE to them considering the safety of the healthcare professionals and cancer affected children.
High quality PPE is vital in the protection of not only health care professionals caring for children with cancer at a time of increased risk, but also for the children who are undergoing treatment who will already have weakened immune systems.
World Child Cancer are working tirelessly to keep supporting children with cancer around the world through the COVID-19 pandemic. Anything you can donate to support our vital work is greatly appreciated.
