Racing Rickshaws in Dhaka

Anyone who has spent time in Bangladesh will appreciate the role of cycle rickshaws in daily life. The skill – and daring – of the cyclists is plain to see.

Last week the High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh in Dhaka organised the third annual rickshaw relay – a fun event that this year raised money for the World Child Cancer-supported project in Bangladesh.

Many came out onto the streets to support the brave racers, including the newly appointed Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Benoît-Pierre Laramée.

The event got plenty of press, being mentioned in various print media and on TV.

Thanks go to the High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh for organising such a wonderful fundraising event, and to Dr Megan Doherty for sending some great photos!
