Deemed a ‘major young artist with the potential to make an international impact', Clare Presland is the 2014 Chilcott Award winner. Clare trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She studies with Robert Dean.
Clare made her professional debut in 2012 as Palestinian Woman (The Death of Klinghoffer) for the English National Opera & has since returned regularly to ENO. Engagements elsewhere include the Royal Opera House, Opera de Lyon, Scottish Opera, Nevill Holt Opera.
In 2016/17 highlights include School Boy/Dresser/Waiter in Lulu for ENO; Hermia, A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Aldeburgh Festival; Red Queen/Queen of Hearts/Duchess/Mock Turtle in Gerald Barry’s Alice’s Adventures Underground & covering the roles of Angel 2 & Marie in Written on Skin for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. On the concert platform she makes her Royal Festival Hall debut in Handel’s Messiah with the Mozart Festival Orchestra & Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
