World Child Cancer's partner, Galliford Try Partnerships, will be taking on the internationally renowned Swiss Peaks challenge to raise vital funds during Childhood Cancer Awareness month this September.
Pete Ackerley, Finance Director at Galliford Try Partnerships North West, will be racing 90km through the stunning scenery of the Swiss Alps. He will also undertake a hair-raising 18,400 feet of climbing, which is equal to scaling two thirds of the way up Mount Everest. Money raised for the completion of this difficult challenge will be donated to World Child Cancer as part of Galliford Try Partnerships’ outreach initiatives.
Galliford Try Partnerships has committed to raising £50K nationally for the charity in 2018. This race will take them a step closer to their target.
Pete Ackerley, commented:
"I’m very excited to be taking part in the Swiss Peaks challenge which will take me on an intensive route through some of the highest mountains in Europe. I’m determined to complete the race and raise money on behalf of World Child Cancer.”
Brendan Blythe, Regional Managing Director, Galliford Try Partnerships, said:
“The North West office has committed to raising over £5,000 for World Child Cancer in 2018 and Pete’s incredible effort will really help us to reach that goal. The excellent charity helps the lives of thousands of children with cancer and their families in some of the poorest countries in the world. Galliford Try Partnerships has so far this year raised over £10K for World Child Cancer.”
