‘Malawi Sounds’ was World Child Cancer’s first music themed event and featured performances from; Caswell, Lyra, JC Stewart, and HUX Music. Organised by our Ambassador, Alex Shammas, the event brought together people from the Brixton community and our supporters to enjoy the great performances from all the artists involved.
Alex spoke about his pride at organising his and the Charity's first music event;
“I’ve never done anything like this before, and neither had the charity, so this was a proud moment for me. I decided to put on a music-themed event because as an Ambassador, and a relatively young one, I consider it my responsibility to connect with a younger audience and felt this event was a good way of achieving this.
“Music is important to me, when you’re getting over things and hard problems it helps me get through them. I support children with cancer because it hurts me to see people with no opportunity, and I think it’s vital to do more for others.”
HUX performed on the night and said;
“Performing at Pop Brixton with World Child Cancer was one of our favourite performances to date, a great audience and great evening.”
