Following World Child Cancer’s first ever Ramadan appeal, we are delighted to announce that our fantastic supporters raised an incredible £13,400!
The amazing support received from 500 donors could enable World Child Cancer to fund staff delivering palliative care to children with life-limiting conditions in Bangladesh for one year while also providing funds for two healthcare teams to deliver treatment and care to children living in a Dhaka slum.
Dr Megan Doherty, a consultant in paediatric palliative care from Canada, exemplified the importance of providing vital training to medical staff in the developing world when visiting a young cancer patient in Bangladesh;
“After a night of terrible pain the overnight doctor knew that this young boy needed morphine and collaborated with Dr Momena to create a structured treatment plan. With the support and funding provided by World Child Cancer Dr Momena had previously completed a training course in Palliative Medicine which enabled her to ensure that children with cancer who come to BSMMU get the right treatment and support for their condition.”
World Child Cancer would like to extend our thanks to all those that supported our first ever Ramadan Appeal. We rely on the donations from our amazing supporters to continue in our mission to ensure each child has equal access to the best possible treatment and care.
